Suzi and the Mule * Acrylic *
This painting is the feature work for the showing at I am Yoga making its debut for Last Thursday on Alberta on August 28,2014.
This is a very special piece, full of memories and symbols.
Zebadiah, the mule, was blind and starving until he met Suzi. When I met him, he was my dear friend Suzi’s long time great love among her cherished critters. Suzi made Zeb’s last days warm, rich, and full of mutual appreciation. He lived to the age of 50.
Watching Zeb and Suzi from above is Penny, the spotted dog.
Suzi was at my house and my own sweet little rescue Dalmatian, Penny, was on her last days. Above the area where she lay was my painting, “The Goddess follows the Spotted Dog”. Suzi leaned over and said, “Would you paint Zeb and I?” For this reason, the spotted dog angel watches their reunion.
Suzi was inspired by Zeb ~ he brought lessons in faith, compassion, trust and forgiveness. Suzi has since rescued 34 horses, donkeys and mules from dire situations, bringing them to a place of healing.
Zeb’s Wish provides rescue, rehab and adoption programs. Still, it is an expensive model and relies on volunteers and donors. To learn more, take a look at their website, or volunteer or sponsor an animal.
